UK should expel the Syrian Ambassador

ICC must issue arrest warrant for President Assad

London - 5 February 2012

“The UK should expel the Syrian Ambassador. He should not be allowed to remain in London after his government's latest massacre in Homs. There should be no normal diplomatic relations with an abnormal regime that murders its own citizens," said human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, Director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

"William Hague should press the International Criminal Court to issue a warrant for the arrest of President Assad on charges of crimes against humanity.

“Acting on the authority of an ICC arrest warrant, a snatch squad should seize Assad and take him to The Hague, where he should be put on trial. The mass killing and torture of civilians must not go unpunished. Inaction is collusion with tyranny,” said Mr Tatchell.
